My first trip to Japan was extremely memorable because I got to facilitate a drop-in Fish Safe Paints workshop at Sunshine City Family Festa 2026, Tokyo. This was only made possible through Tomo from ASEAN Japan Centre and the amazing team at Sunshine City which is famous for their flying penguin aquarium exhibit. I illustrated 3 colouring sheets that features the red lionfish, small-clawed otter and penguin. We had 140+ kids coming through – the otter was the most popular choice!
Overall, I’m thrilled to know that my Fish Safe Paints workshops can translate well through cultural and language barriers . It shows that you can have a fun activity for families whilst also educating how paints contribute to marine microplastics pollution. Check out ASEAN Japan Centre official post about the event: https://www.asean.or.jp/en/event-report/20260220/
Thank you to Tomo and Bryan from AJC and Haruka, Saki, Saeko and Mao from Sunshine City.
